So when we take buyers out, we get a common question

"Are there any upcoming special levies" 

However, the reason why people ask this is to avoid any kind of future expenditures. I get it, nobody ever wants to pay for a special levy, even though they haven't owned the property for long. However, special levies do serve a purpose.  

I do find this the wrong question to ask, however it is important to UNDERSTAND the special levy.  

The nature of special levies are not all the same. Sometimes they're done in a proactive nature, or a reactive one, so understanding the nature of the special levy is the most important question to ask.

Lastly, special levies are inevitiable.  So, its always important to understand the nature of special levies because this will be a determining factor on what type of strata corporation you'd be joining.
