Richmond Family Skate FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY: How it started

Blog by Ray Estrella | February 2nd, 2022

Enter January 2018.

I talked to our manager, Scott to see if he was interested in creating a 'mastermind' group to see how we can better our business. It was a matter of time that he brought this group together, and a few others.  We pretty much met once a week to talk about random topics, from time management and, prospecting, etc.

We ended up coming with this idea to create a community event: a free even that was something for the entire community to enjoy on a not-so-talked about holiday (mainly because it was a fairly new holiday).  It would mean renting out the entire Minoru Arena to do a free public event.

We didn't want to create just a skating event, but a small fesitivity at a skating rink. Thoughts that were going through our head was a photo booth.  But how to make it different.

We also wanted to give away free things to say thank you to everyone who came.

It was a matter of time that our first poster came up, and our first target of getting people interested: Posting on Facebook Community of Richmond group.

Everyone was on board for this idea.  The big challenge was....that Family Day was only 3 days away.

Here's a look of a couple things we did in our very first year:
